• Notes

  A few months after Sally Ann's death, the following item appeared in the Union City Times: "Curtis C. Bisbee, Administrator of the estate of Joseph and Sally Ann Bisbee, deceased, late of Amity tp., Erie county, Pa., will expose to public sale at their late residence, in the north-east corner of said township, the following described property on Thursday, July 10th (1890), at 10 o'clock a.m. Three choice cows, 1 double wagon, 1 drag, household furniture, 1 loom, &c. All sums under $5 cash. Over $5 sixty days time with interest on approved security."

Bisbee family gives Sally Ann's birth year as 1806. Calculating from her age at death on her gravestone, gives us a birth year of 1809. The census supports either year. If she was born in 1806, Sally's father would have been only 14, and only 17 if she was born in 1809. It seems possible that Gideon Morey was her stepfather and might explain why Sally is not mentioned anywhere in Gideon's voluminous probate record.
