• Notes

  Calista Mathewson may have been married prior to Elijah. From the census we find that in 1840, shortly after their marriage and prior to having any children of their own, the household consisted of Reuben and Lydia Bisbee, Elijah and Calista, and one-year-old Ebenezer Barrell, or Burrell, who was enumerated in a later census Ebenezer Bisbee.
